Volunteer – U.S. Disaster Relief

When disasters strike, we want to be able to respond immediately with practical help and the hope of Jesus Christ. By working with volunteers, Samaritan's Purse can bring relief quickly to those who are suffering--wherever they may be. Volunteers should be committed Christians who want to provide compassionate, competent service in the Name of Christ.

Volunteer Teams

We are always looking for church and other Christian groups who are willing to help in the aftermath of a disaster.

Location:  Disaster Sites throughout the United States.

Number of Volunteers:  15 Maximum Per Trip

Minimum Age: 16. For volunteers 17 years and younger, a parent is required to sign a release form on-site and must work on-site with their child.

Length of Project:  We are looking for volunteer teams willing to serve for at least 3-10 days.

Description of Project:  Depending on the disaster, duties can include cleaning out mud and ruined materials from houses, removing fallen trees and debris, and repairing damaged roofs and other construction.

Additional Information:

  •  Your team should be organized before you contact us. You will need to provide the number of team members, dates available, and other information when you contact us.
•  Your team is responsible for providing your own transportation to and from the disaster relief site. You are also expected to provide transportation for your team and tools to the job site each day.
•  Your sleeping quarters and meals will be provided. You will need to bring your own cot or air mattress, sheets, towels, and personal hygiene items.
•  Constructions skills are very useful. Supplying your own tools—such as chainsaws—is helpful, but not mandatory.
•  Teams should not bring additional supplies—food, water, clothing, etc.—for the victims, as we are not set up to distribute relief supplies.

How to Sign Up:

1. Download the volunteer questionnaire form and save it to your computer. This form is a fillable MS Word document.
2. Carefully fill out each section of the questionnaire. Incomplete questionnaires cannot be processed.
3. Send the completed questionnaire as an e-mail attachment to Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief. When you click on this link, a blank e-mail will be opened. Attach your completed form to your return message.

You will be contacted in the next few weeks as we assess needs and coordinate scheduling based on volunteer availability.
